Werner had a stellar 2019/2020 campaign while still at Leipzig, notching 34 goals across all competitions that made Chelsea to splash £47.5m to lure him to Stamford Bridge.
However, ahead of his move to Chelsea, Werner couldn’t complete his season with Leipzig; reports even had it that he declined to feature again in the Champions League for the German side.
RB Leipzig has been sensational and a pure joy to watch in Europe this season, and who knows, they might go all the way to be the new kings of Europe.
But in order to do so, they must find a way to beat their semifinal opponents, Paris Saint Germain who will also be hoping to make it to the final in Europe’s premier competition.
But in the case scenario that Leipzig eventually wins the Champions League, they might still do one last favor for their former striker, Timo Werner.
In other words, the German club can decide to gift Werner a winners’ medal, besides he made 8 appearances for them in the tournament this season, while scoring a moderate 4 goals.
According to reports, there’s a possibility that Werner can receive a winners’ medal, but it depends on Leipzig.
Time will tell, but hopefully they can do this for a player that generated that much transfer fee and scored lots of goals for them.
