The Blues have already brought in the duo of Hakim Ziyech and Timo Werner to their ranks, while Willian and Pedro are among the players to have left the Bridge, but few would be amazed to see more ins and outs before the season gets underway in mid-September.
Chelsea have been making up for lost time in the wake of their two-window transfer ban, with the likes of Leipzig striker Timo Werner and Ajax winger Hakim Ziyech in the team now, for a combined total of around £80million, but Frank Lampard is far from done in this summer’s market.
The dream of Signing a quality left-back is also high up on Lampard’s list of priorities and Chelsea have switched their attentions from Ben Chilwell to Real Madrid’s Reguilon in recent weeks.
According to reports in Spain, the blues have been highly impressed with how Reguilon has performed on loan at Sevilla this season and are leading the race for the Spaniard’s signature.
Asked about the speculation surrounding his future, Reguilon spoke to Muchodeporte: ‘I don’t even know where I’m going to play next season. ‘I have no idea, I have to weigh all the options that we have on the table.’
Reguilon caught the eye in the Europa League as Sevilla knocked out both Wolves and Manchester United on the way to the final and is expected to start tomorrow night against Inter Milan.
But despite his fantastic loan spell with Sevilla, Real Madrid deem the 23-year-old surplus to requirements and are open to offers of around £22.5m this summer. The La Liga champions would insist on including a buy-back clause in the full-back’s contract.
Reguilon hopes to end his loan spell on a high by bringing the Europa League trophy back to Seville. Discussing the final, Reguilon added: ‘To be in the final you have to do a lot of things right and few things wrong. ‘Inter is a hard-working team, it’s going to be a very tough final. But Roma came after eight games without losing and we beat them you can’t judge things by just one game. ‘There will be a lot of pace and focussing with specific players is a mistake, although Lautaro Martinez and Romelu Lukaku are very good.
