Chelsea fans jubilate as the blues reach ‘significant’ breakthroughs on this two players transfers

Chelsea have reached a ‘significant breakthrough’ in deals for Kai Havertz and Jose Gimenez, according to reports. Frank Lampard has already enjoyed a good start to the transfer window, recruiting both Timo Werner and Hakim Ziyech. And they’re now hopeful of bringing two more players to Stamford Bridge.

Chelsea announced the signing of Ziyech from Ajax back in February, with the Morocco international already having started training with his new team-mates.

They also landed Werner in June, beating Liverpool to the signature of the Germany international.

But Chelsea aren’t done there, with Lampard eyeing more reinforcements as he targets the Premier League title.

And CaughtOffside claim the Blues have made ’significant breakthroughs’ in talks for Gimenez and Havertz.

Regarding Gimenez, it’s claimed that Chelsea are working ‘all channels’ in order to lure the Atletico Madrid star to the capital.

The Uruguay international is a vital asset for Diego Simeone over in La Liga – and the Spanish giants feel there’s more to come from the 25-year-old.

The Atletico star recently talked up Chelsea, saying: “I would have liked to play with Lampard.

“I always used to watch Chelsea as a kid, loved them.”

And, while no more details regarding the Gimenez deal are publicised, it appears Chelsea are getting closer to securing his signature.

On Havertz, that deal does seem near.

It’s claimed that ’it’s just the T&C’s now’ before the Bayer Leverkusen star completes a blockbuster move to the club.

And, even if Chelsea sign the duo, they’re still expected to make further additions to their squad as they look to build on their fourth-placed finish.

Express Sport understands Ben Chilwell is close to moving to west London, with Leicester ready to accept a big offer for the left-back.

And Chelsea are getting closer to signing Paris Saint-Germain captain Thiago Silva, who is primed to leave the Parc des Princes after the Champions League final.

Meanwhile, former Chelsea striker Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink has urged Lampard to get at least two new defenders in the door.

“I think he [Lampard] will address the back four,” Hasselbaink told Premier League Productions.

“I think if you’re going to play Jorginho you need to do something about your defence. He can’t defend like N’Golo Kante can but he’s very good on the ball.

“You need players who can defend one against one.

“In a central area they need to improve. I definitely think when Kante doesn’t play they lose those legs in the middle of the park. He might look at something there.

“I know people will talk about the left-back and that he wants to improve there.

“I think it’s just a matter of time that a centre half and a left-back. They’ve been talking about Ben Chilwell – is going to get into the building.”
